Doctor Manhattan

Here's a piece that I almost trashed, but ended up "finishing". I wanted to practice the methods of Drew Struzan (my favorite pop culture artist by far), by using acrylics, colored pencils, and a little bit of airbrush. I'm pretty happy with it.

More digital stuff

Like I stated before, I've been practicing digital art using my Wacom tablet alot lately. I saw a tutorial on doing landscapes, so here are two I created after seeing the steps. I will not post the very first one I did, because it's a total abomination.

Mr. Freeze

Looking through the archives I came across this one. I did this in about 10 minutes to take with me to the Motor City Comic Con this past May. I did this with colored pencil, paint, and a little digital enhancement.

I've been treading the digital waters and have been using my Wacom tablet even more than a pencil and paper; though it is odd drawing using the tablet, as I prefer to physically use a pencil against a physical piece of paper. I'm pretty happy with this one other than the fact that after I "finished" it, it reminded me of Cyrax from Mortal Kombat. D'oh!

Let's Begin

You may know I already have a website out there at www.westlakeillustration.com, but my friend who put it together created it with a trail version of Flash and Dreamweaver.......meaning he can no longer update it for the time being. That's where this comes in. I'll try to get stuff up here on a more regular basis. Stay tuned....
